Chantilly

Chantilly: crossing the county line

This is the one page here where the county line genuinely changes something. If you live in Chantilly proper, you're in Fairfax and the house is in Loudoun.

Chantilly is a census-designated place in Fairfax County, using ZIPs 20151 and 20152. Confusingly, the 20152 ZIP and the "Chantilly" mailing address are also used by South Riding, which is in Loudoun County.

So the first thing to establish is which side of the line you're actually on. If your address is Chantilly but your county is Loudoun, the South Riding page describes your situation better than this one does.

If you really are in Fairfax

Then you'd be choosing a provider in the next county over, and you should know what that means:

  • Anita is voluntarily registered with Loudoun County, not Fairfax. That registration is real, and it is Loudoun's.
  • Voluntary registration is not the same as a state licence — and she doesn't claim it is. The full detail is here.
  • Any Fairfax-specific childcare assistance or employer scheme you're using may have its own rules about out-of-county providers. Check that before you commit, not after.

None of that is a reason not to come. It is a reason to ask the questions at the visit, which she has explicitly invited.

The drive

West on Route 50, out of Fairfax and into Loudoun, toward StoneSprings Hospital. Like South Riding, you'd be driving against the eastbound morning flow to drop off, then joining it afterwards.
